Updated Neighborhood Statistical Profile Now Available

Cover of 2023 Neighborhood Demographic Profile report

The Community Development Department has released an updated Neighborhood Statistical Profile, which provides a statistical snapshot for each of Cambridge's thirteen neighborhoods as well as the city as a whole. The Profile is intended to inform the community of -- and pay homage to -- the distinctive characteristics of each neighborhood. In addition to updated data, the 2019 Profile includes a new diversity index, which provides an overall measure of neighborhood diversity.

The following data is available in a three-page summary for each neighborhood:

  • Land area
  • Population
  • Housing stock, occupancy, and median rents
  • Population trends, including age and sex breakdown
  • Demographics, diversity, and environmental justice populations
  • Transportation
  • Economic measures

The data is drawn from several sources including the 2017 to 2021 American Community Survey, Community Development Department analysis of building and parcel data, rental listing data collected by MAPC, and BikeScore, TransitScore, and WalkScore.

Also updated are the Neighborhorhood Statistical Profiles available through the Cambridge neighborhoods planning and information pages.
