Fire Safe College Housing

Moving into on-campus or off-campus housing?
Make time to check your emergency exit routes. Walk the primary & secondary exit routes to ensure they are free & clear of obstructions.

If you are living in a hi-rise, use the stairs, not the elevator, to escape during an emergency. If you have a disability which prevents you from using the stairs, during an emergency, let the 911 operator know and firefighters will be sent to your location to help.

Check the smoke/carbon monoxide detectors & fire protection. A living unit with automatic sprinkler protection is always a better choice.

As always, for a fire, smoke or any emergency, don't delay! Call 911 right away from a safe area. Fire companies will be immediately dispatched to your location.
