Third Alarm Box 3-8111- 12 Oct 2023

Three alarms were ordered on Thursday morning, October 12th, for the fire at 249 Garden St, a 3-story garden style apt complex. The fire alarm was received at 647 a.m. followed by numerous phone calls reporting the fire. With smoke & fire showing on arrival in the occupied building, firefighters quickly went to work. In a coordinated attack 1st-due Engine 8 initiated fast attack via deck gun while hand lines were stretched inside. Simultaneously 1st-due Ladder 4 started the search for residents. Other arriving companies stretched lines, searched for & removed residents, overhauled, & ventilated.

During the search, 1 resident was located in a 3rd floor apt in heavy smoke condition & was rescued by firefighters via  ground ladder. The resident was treated & transported to a medical facility by
Pro EMS. One other resident was also treated & transported.

Thanks to the rapid, coordinated attack, the fire was quickly contained & extinguished while residents were evacuated. Unfortunately several people were displaced & two were treated & transported to medical facilities. The displaced residents were assisted by American Red Cross. The cause is under investigation.
