Fire Companies review MBTA Green Line Catenary Power Testers

This week companies are reviewing the deployment of Catenary Testers for the MBTA Green line. The Catenary Tester would be used to to test LRV (Light Rail Vehicle) overhead power during an emergency. One probe is connected to the running rail (ground) while the overhead probe is connected to the overhead catenary power line. The device will make a visual & audio alarm signal when power is live. For a potenential fire or other emergency situation, It may be neccesary to ensure that power is shut down to prevent serious injury to passengers, as well as firefighters, other first responders, and MBTA personnel.
Thank you as always to the MBTA staff for sharing the knowledge & safety procedures.
Companies also reviewed Lechmere MBTA station and the secure locker storage for the Catenary Tester.
Engine 3, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, Squad 3, & Divison 1 are participating.

Group 2 is shown in the photos but training will be ongoing for all groups.
