Road closures on Sunday, October 8 for Oktoberfest and HONK! Parade

The Harvard Square Business Association will hold its 44th Annual Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Harvard Square will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to about 9 p.m., including:   JFK Street from Mt. Auburn Street to Mass Ave   Brattle Street from Mass Ave to Appian Way   Church Street from Mass Ave to Brattle Street   Mount Auburn Street from Eliot to JFK   Eliot Street from Mt. Auburn Street to Bennet Street

Expect traffic impacts and road closures in Harvard Square and along Massachusetts Avenue on Sunday, October 8 due to the Harvard Square Oktoberfest and HONK! Parade. 

The Harvard Square Business Association will hold its 44th Annual Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Harvard Square will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6 a.m. to about 9 p.m., including: 

  • JFK Street from Mt. Auburn Street to Mass Ave
  • Brattle Street from Mass Ave to Appian Way 
  • Church Street from Mass Ave to Brattle Street 
  • Mount Auburn Street from Eliot to JFK 

On some one-way streets in the surrounding area, traffic lanes will be reduced from two to one.  

The HONK! Parade will travel from Davis Square in Somerville to Harvard Square along Massachusetts Avenue between noon and 1 p.m. on Sunday. (See the parade route here.) Expect rolling closures along Massachusetts Avenue.   

These closures will impact traffic in the Harvard Square area and beyond.
