Week of September 24: Expect Traffic Impacts Due to Road Closures

Expect traffic delays and road closures due to special events in Cambridge the week of Sunday, September 24.

Paddy's Cambridge Classic

Paddy's Cambridge Classic 5K will take place in Neighborhood Nine and North Cambridge on Sunday, September 24, beginning at 10 a.m. Streets along the route will close from about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The route includes:

  • Walden Street between Garden Street and Raymond Street
  • Raymond Street between Walden Street and Huron Avenue
  • Huron Avenue between Raymond Street and Sherman Street
  • Sherman Street between Huron Avenue and Rindge Avenue
  • Rindge Avenue between Cedar Street and the Russel Field parking lot
  • Cedar Street between Rindge Avenue and Harvey Street
  • Harvey Street between Cedar Street and Alewife Linear Park

Runners will also travel on Alewife Linear Path between Harvey Street and Rindge Avenue.

A post-race block party in front of Paddy's Lunch will close Walden Street between Garden Street and Sherman Street all day. 

Overnight Firehouse Equipment Transfer

Four large trucks transporting materials and equipment needed for the construction of the temporary Station 10 Firehouse will move slowly through Riverside and Mid-Cambridge overnight. Weather permitting, there will be road closures and noise impacts on Sunday, September 24; Monday, September 25; Tuesday, September 26; and Wednesday, September 27.
