Expect traffic and road closures between September 30 and October 1

Expect road closures, traffic impacts, and a Sunday detour of the 69 bus due to events in Cambridge this weekend.

Port Pride - CANCELLED

The 19th Annual Port Pride Day has been cancelled.

Fawcett Street Public Art Unveiling

The Community Art Center will unveil two new works of public art in the Cambridge Highlands on Saturday, September 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event includes free food, music, and festivities to honor participants in the Center’s Teen Public Art Program.

Road closures:

• Fawcett Street will close to all except abutters between Concord Avenue and Smith Place.

Sunday, October 1

Smoke This Rib Fest

The 14th Annual Smoke This Rib Fest will take place on Sunday, October 1, from noon to 4 p.m. in East Cambridge. The event includes a rib competition, food, and live music.

Road closures:

• Cambridge Street will close between Fulkerson Street and Fifth Street between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Bus detour: There will be a detour for the 69 bus to avoid the closed section of Cambridge Street during this time.

• The 69 bus traveling to Lechmere will travel right on Fulkerson Street, left on Charles Street, left on Third Street, and right on Cambridge Street.
• The 69 bus traveling toward Harvard Square, will turn left on Fifth Street, right on Binney Street to Little Binney Street, right onto Cardinal Medieros Avenue, and left onto Cambridge Street.

Cambridge Fall Classic 5K

There will be road closures and traffic impacts in Riverside and Cambridgeport on Sunday, October 1, for the Cambridge Fall Classic 5K Road Race. The race begins at 9:30 a.m. at University Park Commons on Sidney Street.

Road closures:

• Sidney Street will close between Franklin Street and Pacific Street from 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
• Franklin Street will close between Brookline Street and Sidney Street between 9:15 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.

There will be traffic impacts along the rest of the route between 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. The route includes:

• Pacific Street (between Sidney Street and Albany Street)
• Albany Street (between Pacific Street and Mass Ave)
• Mass Ave (between Albany Street and Putnam Avenue)
• Putnam Avenue (between Mass Ave and Brookline Street)
• Brookline Street (between Putnam Avenue and Franklin Street)
