Traffic, Parking, and Transportation Department Announces New Parking Permit Limit for 2024

The City of Cambridge will place a limit on the number of Resident Parking Permits each Cambridge resident may obtain. Beginning in 2024, an individual may have no more than four vehicles with Resident Parking Permits.

You need a permit to park in spaces with signs that say "Parking by Permit Only." The most common types of parking permits that Cambridge issues are Resident Parking Permits and Visitor Parking Permits. Visit Cambridge's Parking Permit webpage to learn more about different types of parking permits, and the requirements to apply for them.

Residents must renew their Resident and Visitor Parking Permits each year.

Parking Permit Renewal Schedule

  • December 1, 2023: Cambridge residents will be able to renew their parking permits online beginning on Friday, December 1, 2023. (Permits will not be mailed before January 2, 2024.)
  • January 2, 2024: Residents can renew their parking permits in-person at 344 Broadway beginning on Tuesday, January 2.

  • April 1, 2024: Cars parked in spaces with signs that say "Parking by Permit Only" must use a 2024 Resident or Visitor Parking Permit.
