May 3-5: Expect road closures, traffic impacts in the Port, East Cambridge, and Harvard Square

Expect weekend road closures and traffic impacts due to special events in the Port, East Cambridge, and Harvard Square from Friday, May 3, to Sunday, May 5:

Viva Central and Naco Taco will host a block party on Saturday, May 4, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Port.

  • Road Closures: State Street will close between Mass Ave and Village Street.

Saint Anthony’s Parish will hold the annual Santo Cristo Feast from Friday, May 3, to Sunday, May 5. The feast will include processions on May 4 at 5 p.m. and May 5 at 3 p.m.

  • Road Closures: The processions will each finish within an hour and take place on Berkshire Street, Cardinal Medeiros Avenue, Cambridge Street, and Bristol Street. 

39th Annual MayFair is scheduled for Sunday, May 5. Expect road closures, detours, and traffic impacts in the Harvard Square area.

  • The annual celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will feature live music, beer gardens, artisan booths, and food vendors. Road closures and detours may be effect prior to and after the event to allow for preparation and clean-up. 
  • Road Closures Include:
  • JFK Street: Closed between Mt. Auburn Street and the Super Crosswalk (the crosswalk between the Harvard Square Kiosk and Harvard Coop)
  • Brattle Street: Closed between Super Crosswalk and Appian Way
  • Massachusetts Avenue: Closed between Super Crosswalk and Garden Street
  • Church Street: Closed 
  • Mt. Auburn Street: Closed between Eliot Street and JFK Street
  • Detours will redirect traffic to nearby roadways. Through traffic should seek alternate routes. The rain date for the festival is Sunday, May 19.
