Join us for a special event on digital privacy from the ACLU of Massachusetts and the Library Freedom Project Saturday, Oct. 15, at Cambridge Public Library, Main Lecture Hall, 449 Broadway.
Kade Crockford, director of the Technology for Liberty Project at the ACLU of Massachusetts, will review some of the major surveillance programs and authorizations, connecting the NSA's dragnet with FBI and local police surveillance, showing the chilling effect of surveillance on speech and writing.
Jessie Rossman, staff attorney for the ACLU of Massachusetts and surveillance law expert, will then present a "Know Your Rights" training around privacy law.
Finally, Alison Macrina, director of the Library Freedom Project, will close the event by demonstrating technology tools that can help thwart surveillance from the intelligence agencies' dragnet and the massive data collection done by corporate entities. The range of tools covered offer solutions for people at all levels of technical ability.
