Apply to the Cambridge Preschool Program through January 15!
The Cambridge Preschool Program (CPP) will provide free preschool to Cambridge 4-year-olds and some 3-year-olds beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. CPP offers families a streamlined, single application process where they can apply to a variety of high-quality, Cambridge-based preschool programs.
Proposed Charter
The City Council has proposed adopting a new City Charter, which is the law that prescribes the structure of the Cambridge government. The proposed new City Charter shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Cambridge for acceptance at the next biennial election, which will be held on November 4, 2025.
Danehy Park Family Day September 20
Enjoy a fun-filled day of children’s amusement rides, activities including kite flying, arts and crafts, music, and roving performers, plus food and other giveaways (while supplies last) at Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 20, from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event rain date is September 27, 2025. .
May 16 Weekend Road Closures
The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events on May 16-18, 2025. Events include Saint Anthony’s Santo Cristo Feast, Port Art Fest, the Peoples Party Music Festival, the 72nd Annual BB&N Circus, and Inman Eats & Crafts.
Hastings Room Reading Series Presents: An Evening of Poetry (Main)
The Hastings Room Reading Series and the Cambridge Public Library are excited to welcome two award-winning poets to the Library for a poetry reading. Denise Duhamel and Martha Collins will both read from recent works.
The reading will take place in the Main Library's Community Room at 7 p.m. on May 1, 2025.
Eviction Record Sealing
Beginning on May 5, 2025, Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 239, Section 16, will allow individuals to seal their eviction records if they meet certain requirements. This means that residents may be able to remove their eviction record(s) from public view. This may make it easier to find housing in the future.
Members Sought to Serve on Cambridge Kiosk Advisory Committee
The Advisory Committee will provide guidance and oversight for the operations of the Cambridge Kiosk in Harvard Square. Through this collaboration, the recently restored landmark is set to become a vibrant cultural incubator, community gathering space, and visitor information center called the Cambridge Kiosk, and is expected to open in early 2025.
Raymond Park Renovation Project
Raymond Park, located at 106 Raymond Street in Neighborhood Nine, is scheduled for renovations beginning in November 2025. Planned improvements include:
Improved circulation and more accessible pathways
New playground equipment
An expanded basketball court
Drainage improvements and rain gardens
Additional seating and gathering areas
New trees and plantings

Carl Barron Achievement Awards
The Cambridge Department of Public Works honored three DPW employees with the Ruth and Carl F. Barron Family Achievement Award on March 6, 2025. The Ruth and Carl F. Barron Family Achievement Award, established in 1992, is presented in recognition of outstanding productivity, distinguished performance and service to the City of Cambridge and Department of Public Works.
