Broadband Subsidies for Qualified Residents Begin May 12
The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) program that provides a temporary discount on monthly broadband bills for residents with low incomes or those who lost income during the pandemic. As of May 12, 2021, eligible households will be able to enroll in the program to receive a monthly discount of $50 off the cost of broadband service from an approved provider.

Danehy Improvements Plan
The Danehy Improvement Plan project is a collaboration between the Department of Public Works, the Department of Human Service Programs Recreation Division, and the Community Development Department. The goal is to develop a shared vision of the future of Danehy Park that reflects the community’s needs and values. The final report will provide a roadmap that guides future park improvements for the next 10-15 years.
City of Cambridge Launches Campaign to Centralize Housing Information and Resources
The City of Cambridge today announced it has launched a citywide campaign designed to educate and inform residents on housing opportunities and housing-related resources and services. Housed In Cambridge: Information to Open Doors, is a collaboration of several city departments, including the City Manager’s Office of the Housing Liaison, the Community Development Department, Cambridge Human Rights Commission, and the Department of Human Service Programs.
Nominations Sought for 2023 Outstanding City Employee Awards. Submission Deadline is Friday, April 28 at 12 p.m.
The annual awards program recognizes City employees for their extraordinary contributions to public service to peers, colleagues, and residents, above and beyond job requirements. All nominations are due Friday, April 28, 2023, by 12 p.m. Award recipients will be recognized at the Outstanding City Employee Award ceremony that has been rescheduled to Friday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m., in the Sullivan Chamber at Cambridge City Hall.

Cambridge Police Department Members Recognized by US Attorney’s Office for Outstanding Collaboration
Cambridge Police Detective Lester Sullivan, Detective Matthew Grassi, Lieutenant Thomas Ahern (Ret.), and Forensic Identification Specialist Brooke Miller received the Outstanding Collaboration Award at the 2024 Law Enforcement Award Ceremony in Boston. Each year, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts hosts a ceremony to recognize outstanding public service by the agents, officers, and community leaders with whom they work alongside.
