Calling all middle grade readers! Meet up in the Curious George Room every third Thursday to eat pizza and talk about books with your friends. This month's book will be The First State of Being by Erin Entrada Kelly. Copies will be available at the children's desk on the third floor. Snacks are provided. This group is for ages 10-12. The Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD) strongly recommends that residents get a flu vaccine this season. While a flu vaccine is always good preventative health care, it is especially important this year given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to the flu vaccine, CPHD will also be offering free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines and boosters at the clinics. We encourage people who are unvaccinated, especially young people (12 and older), to use this opportunity to get both the flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

32 students and 6 staff from the Turn 2 Foundation’s Jeter’s Leaders program visited the Cambridge Police Department as part of their Massachusetts college and career tour.

Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Finding Hope Together Book: The Book of Hope: A Survival Guide for Trying Times by Jane Goodall and Douglas Abrams Registration is encouraged, but not required. The Arthropod Petting Zoo is a hands-on, show-and-tell introduction to entomology featuring real live insects and arthropods! While having fun and interacting with genuine crawling critters, kids learn about biology, taxonomy, adaptations and scientific thinking that real scientists use in the field. Recommended for children ages 3-12 and their caregivers. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Camp Rainbow is an annual summer camp serving Cambridge young people with disabilities, ages 6-22. The camp is offered by the City of Cambridge's Recreation Division.
