Back by popular demand! Join the Friends of the Cambridge Public Library for their used book sale! They'll be selling gently used children’s and adult fiction and nonfiction books at low prices to benefit the Cambridge Public Library. The book sale will be held on June 7-8 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at 20 Holyoke Street. Funds from the sales will be used to support Library programs.

The City of Cambridge launched the 9th Cycle of Participatory Budgeting (PB9) in 2022. Between June and July, community members submitted 1,320 ideas for how to spend $1 million on one-time capital projects to improve Cambridge. From August through November, volunteer PB Delegates researched all submitted project ideas and developed the final proposals for the PB9 vote.

The establishment of the Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) property tax rate by the Board of Assessors, subject to the approval of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, is the final step in the fiscal process that begins with the submission of the annual budget to the City Council. The City’s Operating and Capital Budgets, property classifications, and property valuations are major factors in determining property tax bills.

Join us at the Valente library for some dinosaur fun! It's your turn to be a paleontologist: use a chisel and brush to excavate your own tiny dinosaur. We'll play dinosaur trivia and look at dinosaur books! All supplies provided by the library. Recommended for ages 5+. Dinosaur coloring pages will be provided for younger children. The Affordable Housing Trust will hold a special meeting in-person and via Zoom webinar. This meeting will be held on February 11th at 4 p.m. at Cambridge City Hall Annex, 2nd Floor Conference Room. Harvard Book Store, the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, and the Cambridge Public Library welcome Judge Chile Eboe-Osuji—fourth President of the International Criminal Court, Distinguished International Jurist at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law at the Toronto Metropolitan University, and a Special Advisor to the President of the University—for a discussion of his latest book End of Immunity: Holding World Leaders Accountable for Aggression, Genocide, War Crimes, and Crimes against Humanity. Learn about the local tradition of turning maple sap into maple syrup with Land's Sake Farm! Enjoy a maple sugaring themed story time, touch and explore the tools we use to make maple syrup, and try using hand drills to tap a demonstration log. This program is recommended for children ages 4 and up. Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required - please register only the children who will be attending the program.

Please join with us to remember the victims of the attacks of September, 11, 2001. A brief, respectful remembrance ceremony will be held at each City firehouse on Monday, September 11, 2023 starting at 9:50 a.m. Everyone is invited to join with firefighters participating at Fire Headquarters at 491 Broadway or at your neighborhood firehouse.

We will honor and remember Dr. King and his legacy, hear remarks from City leaders, hear from members of the Cambridge community as they share readings of Dr. King’s words calling for peace, justice and transformation, and hear musical performances. Immediately following the City's commemoration, Many Helping Hands 365 will host its MLK Day of Service.
