Cool Off This Summer: Cambridge Waterplay Features Are Now Open
With temperatures expected to rise into the upper 80s this week, the City of Cambridge is excited to welcome the return of waterplay season! Waterplay features at many neighborhood parks and playgrounds are now open for the summer and offer a fun, free way for kids to cool off and stay active.
We Love Reading (Valente)
Celebrate reading with fellow new readers at the Valente Branch Library! We will explore a book from the Beginning Reader collection, spend time reading together, and do an activity! Copies of the book will be provided via the library; participants may check out a copy to take home after the program.
This is open to students in kindergarten through second grade who are practicing reading independently; their grown-ups are welcome to join us.
Registration is required. Contact the library at 617-349-4015 for more information.
Get to Know Anna Kaplan
Get to Know Anna Kaplan, the Director of Epidemiology and Data Services at the Cambridge Public Health Department (CPHD). The Epidemiology and Data Services division works as sort of an internal support group to all the different public health department units, in addition to our communicable disease function.
2013 Crime Review Report
For the third year in a row, there has been a historic drop in serious crime in the City of Cambridge.

LOCATION CHANGED - Beginning English Class (MAIN)
This event has been moved to the Community Room on L2 at the Main Library, located at 449 Broadway, due to the temporary closing of the Valente Branch.
Join us for an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) class! This class will be taught at a beginner level. No testing is needed. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call Maria Balestrieri at 617-349-4013.
This class will be held at the Main Library, located at 449 Broadway, during the month of July.
Medicinal Plant Walk (Central Square)
Join herbalist Mo Katz-Christy for a meander through the neighborhood to meet city plants and explore their medicinal uses! We will explore weeds and cultivated plants, trees and shrubs, and have lots of space for questions and conversation. Bring a notebook if you like, and meet us at the Central Square Branch Library. Note this program begins at the library but will then walk throughout the neighborhood -- arriving late may mean you miss the group at the library and will not be able to catch up.
