Cambridge City Manager Yi-An Huang is seeking Cambridge residents interested in serving on the Police Review & Advisory Board. Made up of volunteer members, the Board serves as a fair and impartial body that provides oversight of the Cambridge Police Department.

Cambridge Police Department (CPD) launched a co-response program that places a clinician in a cruiser with a police officer to respond to mental health calls. Beginning in August 2024, Officer Qaiss Farazi, aka “Q”, and Co-Response Clinician Bonnie Magee, an employee from North Suffolk Community Services, began responding to mental health calls across the city. The two main goals of co-response are to reduce arrests related to mental health calls and to reduce unnecessary trips to the ER for mental health calls that can potentially be resolved on scene.

A teenage male from Cambridge was taken into custody this morning by the Cambridge Police Department following a multi-day regional investigation involving a BMW that was stolen out of Brookline while a dog was inside of the vehicle.

Since 1972, SCES has been the area's aging information and service center, helping older people and people living with disabilities remain safe and independent in their own homes. Registration is requested, but not required. SCES services are available to older residents of Cambridge and Somerville, as well as their caregivers. Some services are open to adults with disabilities who are age 16 and older, and to residents of the Greater Boston area.

City of Cambridge offices, libraries, and senior centers will be closed on Tuesday, July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday, and payments will not be required at parking meters and parking meter pay stations. The offices at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, will also be closed on July 4, however, the cemetery gates will be open from 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.

At approximately 1:45 this afternoon a Cambridge Police Department Youth Resource Officer assigned to Cambridge Rindge and Latin School accidentally discharged their firearm while using a staff bathroom inside the school. There were no injuries. The officer immediately notified department supervisors and the school administration. CPD then responded to the scene and are currently investigating. The school day was not disrupted and there were no other injuries.
