This week's selection: Tony Kushner, Angels in America Reading Interests: We concentrate on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy, and religion. Authors read in the past five years include Dickens, Keats and Yeats, O'Connor and Munro, Ecclesiastes, Sophocles and August Wilson, Darwin, Austen, Duras, The Federalist Papers, and Arendt. How to get the print book: Copies of the reading are set aside at the Main Library. Visit the Main Library at 449 Broadway during current service hours and a staff member can help you get a copy. Enjoy a variety of outdoor activities from September 21 through October 30, on weekdays from 3-6 p.m. Daily experiences will include recreation and games, arts and music, and opportunities to move, play, explore and create in a safe and supervised environment.

The Public Planting Committee is charged with the responsibility of promoting and improving the quality and diversity of plantings throughout all areas of Cambridge. This includes reviewing planting plans for new public work in the city; advising the city on effective maintenance of public plantings; supporting the role of the Urban Forestry Division of the Cambridge Public Works Department; and encouraging interest in public plantings in all neighborhoods.

To the owners of the hereinafter described land and to all others concerned, You are hereby notified that on Monday, December 15th, at 8:00 P.M. at the Treasurer/Collector’s Office, 795 Massachusetts Ave, pursuant to the provisions of General Laws, Chapter 60, Section 53, and by virtue of the authority vested in me the Collector of Taxes, it is my intention to take for the City of Cambridge the following parcels of land for non-payment of the taxes due, with interest and all incidental expenses and costs to the date of taking, unless paid before that date.

The purpose of this study was to determine current and future energy demand, assess the potential for renewable energy generation in Cambridge, develop technical scenarios for renewable energy delivery systems, and evaluate the risks, benefits, and feasibility of each scenario along with discussion of potential implementation pathways.

On Thursday, October 21, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) approved the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 booster vaccines for eligible groups. The CDC had previously recommended boosters for eligible individuals who received the Pfizer vaccine series. In addition, individuals will now be able to choose which type of booster shot to get regardless of which vaccine series they have already received.

The Cambridge Life Magazine is a biannual publication of the City of Cambridge Public Information Office that is mailed to residential households in February and September. This magazine generally provides more extensive features of key City initiatives and programs.

The following report presents an analysis by the Commission on Immigrant Rights & Citizenship (CIRC) of the most pressing needs of Cambridge’s immigrant communities, particularly with regard to legal rights, citizenship and local resources for this information, based upon responses provided at two Focus Groups and through a series of thirty-three individual interviews with Cambridge immigrants, conducted in the winter/spring of 2017.
