The City of Cambridge is currently in the demolition phase for the reconstruction of the King Open School on Cambridge Street as the project team continues to work on the design of the final buildings. Last year, the City heard comments on the feasibility study and design concepts. If you were unable to attend these public meetings, the meeting notes and presentations are available through the project’s website at www.CambridgeMA.gov/KOCUS.
On Thursday, October 20, 2016, the City of Cambridge and the architect, William Rawn and Arrowstreet, will host a public meeting in the Community Room at the Millers River Apartments located at 15 Lambert Street from 6:00 – 7:30 pm as part of the community process for the King Open and Cambridge Street Upper School & Community Complex. City staff, architects, and the Construction Manager, Rich – KBE King School Joint Venture, will be in attendance to discuss design elements as well as the demolition and construction schedule and impacts on residents. The Cambridge Traffic, Parking, & Transportation Department will also present on bicycle lane design considerations and student drop off/pick up.
Those attending may enter the Millers River Apartments via the Gore Street or Lambert Street entrances. If entering the building from Gore St., take a right, go past the library and laundry room, and the Community Room will be at the end of the hallway on the right. Entering from Lambert St., take a left, go past the library and the laundry room, and the Community Room will be at the end of the hallway on the right.
