Potential Goals

Education in schools

Creating a seamless transition of home-life composting/recycling with school-life compost/recycle. Engaging school kids in environmentalism in general. Meryl will guide this group.

Events

What would the ideal booth/table at an event look like for Cambridge Recycling? What’s the marketing/psychological effects that would draw-in residents so we may engage with them? 

Analysis/Policy Recommendations

How can this group leverage the Analytics groups findings to influence policies? Specifically, I believe this group could research how to revise the solid waste ordinance.

Behavior Change and Marketing

What should the City prioritize to engage and change behavior?  How can web, email, and print materials be optimized?

Analytics

How do we get to 30% reduction by 2020? What resources are needed for diverting different materials?

Committee members are appointed by the City Manager. All meetings are open to the public. Members of the public may speak during the public comment section for up to two minutes. If you wish to speak, please contact Mike Orr at 617 349-4815 or morr@cambridgema.gov by 1pm the day before the meeting. You may also email or mail written comments for inclusion in public comments in lieu of appearing to speak in person. The Committee Chair must first grant permission to non-members who request to speak at the meeting.
