Abdul Ahmed, 52, of Somerville, was placed under arrest by Cambridge Police on charges of Shoplifting by Asportation, Carrying a Firearm and Ammunition without a License to Carry, Possession of a Class A Drug (suspected heroin / fentanyl), Possession of a Class B Drug (suspected crack cocaine), and Possession of a Class E Drug (prescription pills).

The Cambridge Police Department today announced the recovery of a ghost gun, two magazines, ammunition, fentanyl, and credit cards after the operator of a U-Haul van crashed into a light pole and tree on Rindge Avenue early this morning and then attempted to leave the area.

Emergency Communications initially received reports of gun shots in the area of Central Square around 1:31 a.m. Three shell casings were located by the Cambridge Police near 731 Massachusetts Avenue following a preliminary investigation. There is one known victim at this time.
