The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures throughout the weekend due to scheduled community events on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. Events include the Attic Block Party (affecting Harvard Square) and the Cambridge 5K at CambridgeSide.

Join the Collins Branch Library in collaboration with the Cambridge Climate Leaders Initiative for a monthly discussion of a climate-related topic. Each month the group will discuss a book on the topic at hand then hear about a related local program or initiative and how you can take action. Topic: Changing Lanes for Climate - exploring sustainable modes of transportation Book: Carmageddon: How Cars Make Life Worse and What To Do About It by Daniel Knowles Registration is encouraged, but not required. Informal Book Exchanges are already popular in Cambridge on streets and at the Public Works yard. This project would install 13 Little Free Libraries to support literacy, community engagement, and fun throughout the streets of our city.

The Commission’s mission is to advocate for a culture of respect and to monitor progress toward equality of all persons with regard to sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression. The Commission also promotes policies and practices that have a positive effect on the health, welfare and safety of LGBTQ+ persons who live, visit or work in the City of Cambridge.

Cool Spots are public spaces where community members are encouraged to gather, connect, and cool off. In the first round of implementation completed in June 2025, four pilot locations for Cool Spots have been launched across the City.

The Community-Wide GHG Inventory helps the City of Cambridge benchmark community-wide emissions, and provides a necessary foundation that enables Cambridge to track progress towards emission reduction goals, and engage specific market sectors in actions to reduce emissions.

CANCELLED - Public Hearing of the Half Crown-Marsh Neighborhood Conservation District Commission in order to review applications to alter designated properties and other matters under the provisions of Chapter 2.78 of the Code of the City of Cambridge and the order establishing the district. The Commission has a monthly meeting calendar, though meetings may be cancelled if no applications are received.

As part of the initiative, the City is encouraging residents to introduce themselves and engage with their neighbors. Residents can submit their events to the online Meet Your Neighbors Day map. Hosts are only limited by their imagination!

We’re looking for people to host trees as part of an innovative community art piece. Cambridge residents are invited to adopt a young apple tree as part of a project to give new life to a beloved apple tree that was removed as part of the reconstruction of the City of Cambridge's Tobin Montessori and Darby Vassall Upper Schools complex.
