Cambridge Plays - Chinese Crafting, Paper cutting, Dancing and Kung Fu Workshops

Enjoy a free workshop for adults and kids to taste Chinese traditional arts with the Chinese American Association of Cambridge.

On Sunday, July 23, the activities include:

  • Chinese traditional dance workshop: Demonstration of four (4) typical Chinese classical dances, including Xinjiang, Margolin, Dai, Peacock. Eva Liu is the instructor of Cheongsam Show at the Cambridge Lunar New Year Celebration 2023. She will demo and lead Chinese dancing for all ages.
  • Chinese square dance workshop: We are a group of Chinese residents who love dancing and often come together to have fun. Dance is a sociable way to express ourselves, get in shape, and feel good. Our dance focuses on the Chinese square dance, an exercise routine performed to music in square, plaza, or parks. It’s a step to a healthy lifestyle. We will show the basic steps to the audience and then we can all dance together and have fun.
  • Kung Fu workshop: Mr. Zunlong Li, the master of Chaquan (a type of Northern Chinese martial arts), will teach some basic Kung Fu forms, also come and take a selfie with his guandao (or The Green Dragon Crescent Blade).
  • Tai Chi workshop: Lindsay Lambert owns and operates Wu Dao Kung Fu & Tai Chi school in Watertown. She happily shares Kung Fu & Tai Chi wherever possible to all ages.
  • Art of Nature Around Us - Chinese Papercutting: Zhonghe (Elena) Li is a multi-media artist who lives and works in Cambridge, MA. She practices and teaches traditional Chinese papercutting art, watercolor and mixed media. She is happy to offer papercutting workshops to the Cambridge community members on natural life forms found in Cambridge.
  • The crflibrary.org mobile lending library will bring Chinese kids picture books that can be borrowed home.

This event is free and open to all. If it rains, the event might be cancelled, please check CAAC's website for updates: https://caac-ma.org/?cat=7
