The Community Development Department is excited to kick off our open space planning process to guide future work related to parks and open space.

Our parks and open spaces play an important role in the quality of community life in Cambridge. As our open space system evolves, we want to ensure that changes over time reflect our community’s values and priorities.

Join us for the open space planning process kickoff meeting:

Through this planning process, we will examine our open space system through an equity lens to assess priorities based on multiple criteria, including distribution and access, park conditions, and environmental and public health benefits. It will incorporate analysis and recommendations from the City’s Urban Forest Master Plan and the Resilient Cambridge Plan.Through this work, we will also be updating our Open Space and Recreation Plan for submission to the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.
