All Cambridge electricity customers can join the City’s Community Electricity Program (CCE). The program provides an alternative to Eversource Basic Service and other electricity suppliers. Customers also benefit from fixed rates: prices for Standard Green and 100% Green Plus are locked in until 2024, even if Eversource’s rates change.

CCE’s price is currently lower than Eversource Basic Service and CCE has saved participants over $15 million since 2017, though future savings are not guaranteed.

Most participants are automatically enrolled in Standard Green, and over 1,300 homes and businesses in Cambridge are powered by 100% renewable energy. By opting up to 100% Green Plus, these customers are powered by locally-generated, carbon-free renewable energy, and are supporting new clean energy projects in New England. Sign up for 100% Green today by calling or visiting the website.

The Cambridge Community Electricity program launched in July 2017 and leverages the community’s bulk buying power to negotiate a price and increase the amount of renewable energy in the City’s electricity supply. It also protects Cambridge residents and businesses from changing electricity prices and has no contract or penalties for changing enrollment.

You may receive other electricity offers in the mail or from door-to- marketers. If someone comes to your door saying they are from the City of Cambridge or Eversource be very wary and call Eversource and/or the non-emergency police (617-349-3300) to confirm the person's identity. Do not give your electricity account number to anyone unless you intend to make them your electricity supplier. Be very careful of contracts and pricing plans that have low introductory rates that are only guaranteed for a short period of time.

Updated energy mix information is now available for the Cambridge Community Electricity program. This document shows how the electricity was generated and provides detail on how much of that energy comes from renewable vs non-renewable sources.
