MBTA Key Bus Routes Improvement Program

MBTA bus approching Dawes Island bus stop

This program was completed in 2017. City staff will make no further updates to this webpage.

The City of Cambridge worked with the MBTA on the Key Bus Routes Program. This program made improvements at bus stops for the MBTA’s most frequent buses. This included Routes 1, 66, 71, 73, and 77. The City and MBTA added shelters, benches, and trash barrels at bus stops. We repaired or modified sidewalks so that people with disabilities can better board and exit the bus. We also relocated some stops to make it easier for the bus to pull to the curb or make it through signalized intersections with the least amount of delay.
