Hurley Street Park

Hurley Street Park, September 2015

The City of Cambridge completed a comprehensive renovation of Hurley Street Park in 2015. Hurley Street Park is an approximately 0.3 acre park located on Hurley Street in East Cambridge.

The renovated park includes play features for children of all ages, a water and sand play area for younger children, waterplay, a range of passive seating areas, and a new community garden.

This project is complete. No further updates to this project page will be made.


October 2015

Park Re-Opening Celebration

A re-opening of Hurley Street Park! A community celebration was held at Hurley Street Park on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 2:30 P. M.

Summer 2015

Park improvements are underway at Hurley Street Park.

Work Completed

site utilities and drainage, installation of large and small play structures, toddler sand and water play, seating walls, raised stage, and group basket swing.

Work in Progress and Remaining

site seating, water play splash pad, rubber safety surfacing, asphalt paths, concrete sidewalks, swing benches with arbor, fencing and gates, raised garden planters and storage shed, sod, plant material, and time to allow site landscaping to become established.

The park is anticipated to open late summer 2015 (pending weather conditions).

Fall 2014

Community Meeting - May 27, 2014

A community meeting was held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 6:00 P. M. at the Kennedy Longfellow School cafeteria.  The meeting was an opportunity to see and discuss a concept plan for the renovated park.

Community Meeting - February 13, 2014

A community meeting regarding the renovation of Hurley Street Park was held on February 13, 2014 at 6:00 P. M. Discussion focused on the park renovation process and included an opportunity for the public to share thoughts on Hurley Street Park.

The City of Cambridge recently completed a comprehensive renovation of Hurley Street Park. Park improvements throughout the city are also guided by the goals of Healthy Parks and Playgrounds Initiative, as well as input from the community.

The renovated park includes:

  • Refurbished playground
  • Water and sand play area
  • Water sprinklers
  • Tables and seating with umbrellas
  • New community garden (raised beds)
  • Improved lighting
  • Swing benches
  • New art fence
  • Reconstructed park pathways and sidewalk on Hurley St
  • Emergency phone and message board
