MBTA red line

Cambridge is well served by rapid transit, with 5 stops on the Red Line (Kendall, Central, Harvard, Porter, Alewife) and one stop on the Green Line (Lechmere), serving over 100,000 riders per day. In addition, 26 bus routes are in or pass through Cambridge carrying about 85,000 riders per typical weekday. Transfers from subway to bus are free, making it even easier to take transit for your entire trip.

Public transit is critical to maintaining the City of Cambridge as a livable city. The ability of our region’s economy to grow depends largely on the efficiency and effectiveness of our transportation system. Strong multi-modal transportation networks concentrate employment, making jobs more accessible and labor markets more flexible for companies seeking workers with specialized skills.

Cambridge Better Bus Outreach Initiative - Your Ideas, Please

The MBTA is in the middle of a bus service planning process called the Better Bus Project and will recommend changes to bus service across the entire system later this year.
To supplement the MBTA’s public outreach, the City is seeking feedback on bus service challenges and ideas for improvements from even more of the residents, workers, and visitors in the Cambridge community, including you!
