Walden Square II

Winn Development Company, the owner of Walden Square Apartments, a 240-unit affordable development in North Cambridge, is proposing the new construction of 95 new affordable rental units on the existing Walden Square site. Conveniently located near Danehy Park and the amenities at Porter Square, the plan involves the development of a two buildings at the northern edge of their site, adjacent to the Yerxa Road Underpass, with improved open space, new community spaces for its residents, and additional office spaces for the property management. Winn Development also anticipates making site upgrades to improve pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular connectivity.

Winn plans to create this new housing under provisions of the Affordable Housing Overlay (AHO).

Existing Site: The existing Walden Square apartments consists of six separate building containing a total of 240 apartments.

Proposed New Construction:

Construction of 95 new affordable rental units on a portion of the existing 7.32-acre site
Mix of unit sizes including a large number of family-sized units
It is anticipated that all of the new apartments will be affordable to households earning at or below 60% Area, with a portion to be set aside for households earning at or below 30% AMI
Site upgrades to improve pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular connectivity, and open space
